We live in a pretty small apartment in the city of Chicago… so smells tend to spread.
The ever obnoxious stinky fridge…
Last nights bean burrito…
Too many banana peels in the trash…
Someone’s old running shoes…
All these staaanks can travel from the bathroom, to the kitchen, to the bedroom and back! My solution is the DIY de-staaank spray. Some may call is a poo-pourri spray, other’s may call it a room spray, but whatever you call it… it’s easy to make and can easily replace those air fresheners that do nothing but make your home smell like poo and chemicals. Not to mention most of them have formaldehyde and other carcinogens that are no good for you.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2oz Spray Glass Bottle
- 1 Teaspoon Witch Hazel, Rubbing Alcohol or Vodka
- 10-30 drops of Essential Oil (Click here to find out more about how to get Young Living Essential Oils for 24% off)
- 2oz ish of Water (just fill the rest of the spray bottle)
Some great oils to use are Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass, or Orange.
You can also use your favorite blend like, Purification, Abundance, Joy or Citrus Fresh
It depends on your personal preference. To me Joy is too floral. I prefer a combination of Lavender and Lemongrass.
Have fun making your de-staaank spray (it take a whopping 2 minutes haha!) and tell me how it went! What oils did you use for your spray? Share your thoughts with me and Monika in the comments!
